We may not understand love fully but heck, most of us were there once – holding hands, back pocket walking, rumor mills of romance and fair weather boyfriends and girlfriends. Ok maybe adult relationships aren’t that much different. We still seek approval, retaliate when wronged, try to make sense from nonsense – “it’s complicated”, continue the rumor mill and confuse love with lust. Now we argue over bills and household chores instead of “who’s Galaxy Flight Golds look better?”, and the one day boyfriend is deemed a one-night stand.
Insanity has been deemed as doing the same thing but expecting different results. It’s time to put an end to the rigmarole if you really want the next relationship to last. Social networking and living in Metro Atlanta has taught me a lot about people. People create this facade as to who they are, what they do and where they live all at the drop of a hat or tweet. Not that people weren’t superficial in Youngstown, Oakland, San Francisco, DC, or Baltimore but it was disturbing to find how people do it as adults (especially since Ma Dukes has made it clear she wants grandbabies). A person can have a single marital status, no children, a mini mansion and a bag of Funyuns®. But in reality, he is broke, married (separated is the favored term here), has a dozen women pregnant (so technically no children yet) and lives in his mama’s house (which she rents).
The point is that “it is hard for genuine people to find other genuine people” – @PeraCrack. By the time one is found, she is dismissed because she may as well be just another liar. Why put forth any effort into a potential relationship with her? Because, life goes on. Just like when the Concords and Galaxies were sold out in the stores, you moved on the next way to get them if you didn’t cop them there. Relationships are like sneakers: you find the right fit, it doesn’t matter if others don’t like them because you do, and a unique pair has lasting power.
